Sorry for being MIA
And for once it's not because I've been blue. Life has actually been pretty swell since the last time I posted!
I got a new job! YAY! I actually got hired over 3 weeks ago, but am not starting till this coming Monday. I'm disappointed that it's not a travel gig, that I had to give up that dream, but I can always go back to it some day. So it's a local permanent job and everyone I've met so far is super super nice, and I'm really looking forward to getting back to work. Although I confess I am a bit nervous. I know it'll be great though, right?
And then because I had 3 weeks before starting, I headed up to Jersey to visit family and for a friend's birthday celebration.
I have a hunch I will not be driving back up there for quite some time. We had some peeing in the car issues (Ringo, not me) and I just don't have the patience for many of the little nuances of Jersey that I used to.
I still had a great time though :) My friend's birthday was down the shore, I got to spend time with people I've known forever but haven't talked to in close to forever and that was great :) Unfortuately my fabulous sunglasses were sacrificed to the party gods, but I guess it was worth it :)
The night before I left I met up with an old friend at Bowcraft Playland and Amusement Park, a small amusement park we used to go to growing up. In HS there were some friends who worked there who referred to the place as Blowcraft Slaveland and Abusement Park. :)
It was quite the time warp being there. Kinda scary how little the place has changed in 30 years though. One of the parks attractions was a little train that made it's way around and there were all these "animals" it went past. Kinda like a pseudo safari. There was a pond that had some water creatures there- an alligator, a hippo, some flamingo's a jumping dolphin... now it's a grassy area and the same animals are still there. They look a bit odd, but whatever :) I didn't get a good shot of the "deep water" area, but here is the seal and duck and seahorse.
My favorite creature though was the Polar Bear. Apparently he can't stand on his own anymore, so they have him tied to a tree, with the rope going around his neck. I believe he's actually more intimidating now than he ever was. Poor guy.
A good time was had by all though. At one point I saw a kid sneeze right onto the hand rail, and thought it was kinda funny. Now I seem to be sick, so it's less funny. Hopefully I'll be healthy by Monday though!
Anyway, there you go with a quick update of what I've been up to since going MIA! I'll try and be better and get back in the swing of regular updates :) I'm guessing I'll have some stuff to say soon about how the new job is going! Plus I might actually start to have a bit more of a life since I'll be leaving the house :) YAY!

nuances of Jersey - bwahaha!
isn't it funny going back to places from a long time ago and how much smaller they seem? those animals are creepy!
Congrats on the job! I wondered why you headed off to Jersey, but now I know -- You had a big gap between interview and the start date to the job. Well, that's nice!!
Have a great day tomorrow in your new job :)
Big Congrats on your new job -
hope you love it! You know they will love YOU!!
