 How would you have responded?

Im rarely at a complete loss of words but I was recently and Im curious how others out there would have replied...

Recently someone asked me what I did on my day off last week. I told them I spent the day at the vet school hospital/kitty cardiologist. This person then asked what was wrong and I explained that it was Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. This person then replied "Oh, my father died of that."

What do you say to that?
